3. I store them in a cool room. Humidity tends to ruin books faster. Living in Singapore doesn't help in preserving books, sadly.

4. Try not to store books in cardboard boxes. Those things are acidic and they'll destroy the pages.

5. I don't eat oily foods and handle my books. It leaves stains on the pages. Stains aren't that pleasing to the eye.

6. Never pull a book off its shelf by hooking your finger to the top of the spine. You should grasp the book by its sides.

7. Don't leave a rubber band around the book. (It sticks to the paper after a while and becomes a problem when you need to remove it)

8. Keep your books away from water. Some inks used are soluble and water and the ink will run upon contact with water. Smudgy letters left.

9. Obviously don't dog ear your book. The crinkled pages at the top corner of the book ain't nice. Use a post it to mark the pages.

10. I try not to break the spine of paperbacks.
