Book Review: Opal

Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout is the third book of the Lux series. I suggest you read from the first book, Obsidian if you have not. :)

Basically, I love Daemon and Katy together, arguing like they want to murder each other but also loving each other more than anything else. Daemon's character progressed well from the start of the series. I must say Jennifer L. Armentrout did a really good job.
So... I would give Opal a 4 out of 5 stars.

Spoiler...!
In Opal, Katy feels guilt stricken for not listening to Daemon and trusting Blake (some psycho hybrid), indirectly causing the death of her best friend's boyfriend, Alex. Naturally, her BFF isn't so BFF with her anymore.

We see a different side of Dee, her not-so-BFF-anymore. In the earlier books, she portrays a gentle but chatterbox teenage girl. Now, she's all I-want-to-take-REVENGE. Makes me miss the old Dee.

Katy's a bit different. It scares me that she's behaving more and more like Blake. Is it a hybrid characteristic or is she just cracking under too much stress? She's not behaving like herself anymore. I'm starting to think, IMH maybe?

Daemon's twin brother, Dawson is practically a ghost in the house at the start, like some kind of alien PMS. Though he does have a right to behave this way. (who wouldn't when your gf is tortured and locked away from you?)

Blake returns to convince the Blacks assist him to save his Luxen friend from the DOD, plus Dawson's gf too.
And so, the rest of the book is about their plans to rescue the two from the DOD.

Did I mention that I love Daemon and Katy together?

Too bad the book ends on a cliffhanger. Katy is separated from the rest in the rescue mission and she's stuck with the Arum. God, I'm sure worried for her.

Favourite sections of Opal:
Dawson shifted, dropping his head into his hand. "Do you ever stop talking?"
"When I'm sleeping," Blake replied.
"And when you're dead," Daemon threw back. "You'll stop talking when you're dead."
Blake's lips thinned. "Point taken.”

He’s like a suicidal Energizer bunny. (Katy talking about Dawson)

A slow, wry smile teased Daemon’s lips. “Simmer down, Kitten, before I have to get you a ball of yarn to play with.” Annoyance flared deep inside me. “Don’t start with me, jerk-face.”

Yesh, this book... no, in fact this whole series is recommended. #1 Obsidian #2 Onyx #3 Opal

It sucked-sucked worse than people who pirated books, sucked more than a year for the next book in a beloved series, and sucked more than a brutal cliffhanger ending. (you got that right, Katy)
